[one_half]Sal Asad, a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) and a Project Management Professional (PMP), is an active member of Toastmasters International and Project Management Institute Central Virginia Chapter (PMI-CVC).
Sal has been a Toastmaster since 1999. He was named Toastmaster of the Year, Area Governor of the Year and Division Governor of the year. He is the recipient of Excellence in Education and Training Award and while serving as a District Governor for D66 in Virginia he received the Excellence in Leadership Award.[/one_half]
In 2008 Sal was elected an International director of Toastmasters International, a world-wide organization, for two-year term. In February, 2013 he was appointed by the Toastmasters International President and Board of
Directors as the Region Advisor (RA) for Region 7 which spans part of or the entire states of Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington DC, Delaware, Virginia and North Carolina. In February, 2014 he was re-appointed for a second 16-month term as the Region Advisor for Region 7.
Sal is a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR) class of 2003 and has earned his Project Management Certification (PMP) in January 2009. He conducts communications and leadership seminars and workshops inside and outside Toastmasters.
Sal held several technical and management positions working for several major U.S. corporations including IBM, RCA, GE, Dun and Bradstreet and the Federal Reserve. He retired from the Federal Reserve System in September 2008 after 16 years of service. He is the recipient of several distinguished corporate management and service awards.
Sal holds two Masters Degrees: one in Aeronautical Engineering and another in Computer Systems. He lives with his wife, Zena, in Richmond Virginia. They have five children and four grandchildren.
